Aqua Trek Beqa FAQ

How is the three-day Open Water course structured?

The included PADI e-learning must be completed before arriving in Fiji. The three-day practical course then begins with confined-water training in the pool, followed by two days of open-water training and assessment dives in Beqa Lagoon.

Do I need to complete anything before the course?

Yes. PADI e-learning is included in the course price, and access details will be emailed after booking. All online coursework must be completed before the first day of practical training.

Are the shark and soft-coral dives included in the course?

The certification dives are training and assessment dives rather than scheduled recreational dive trips. Dive sites are selected by the instructor according to course requirements, weather and diving conditions, so specific shark or soft-coral sites are not guaranteed.

Where do the open-water training dives take place?

The four required open-water check-out dives take place in Beqa Lagoon over the final two days of the course. Specific dive sites are chosen by Aqua-Trek’s instructors based on conditions and student suitability.

What is the water temperature, and which wetsuit will I need?

Water temperatures are normally around 27–30°C from November to April and 24–27°C from May to October. A short wetsuit may be suitable during the warmer months, while a 3 mm or 5 mm wetsuit is recommended during the cooler season.

What time does the course start each day?

The exact daily schedule will be confirmed with the course instructions. On open-water diving days, guests should normally expect an early-morning start and activities continuing into the early afternoon.

Is diving equipment provided?

Aqua-Trek can provide BCDs, regulators, 5 mm wetsuits, masks and fins. Please check the listed course inclusions when booking, as equipment hire charges may depend on the selected package. Dive computers are not available for hire.

Can a non-diving companion join the training dives?

Non-diving companions generally cannot join the training boat because space is reserved for students, instructors and certified divers. The training sites may also be unsuitable for snorkelling due to their depth and currents.

Are afternoon or night dives included?

No. Afternoon and night dives are not normally included in the three-day Open Water certification course. Additional dives may be available after certification, subject to scheduling, minimum numbers and diving conditions.
