This package gives you everything you need to earn your SSI Open Water Dive Certification in one of the most beautiful settings in the Pacific.
Spread across 5 days and 4 nights at Mantaray Island Resort on Nanuya Balavu Island, the course combines classroom theory sessions with a shallow water skills session in the ocean and four open water dives across a range of dive sites around the resort's house reef. There is no pool involved: all in-water sessions take place in the ocean from the outset.
On completion, you receive your SSI Open Water Dive Certificate. When you are not diving, the resort has plenty to keep you occupied, from snorkelling the house reef to village visits and sunset tube cruising.
Coach and vessel transfers, accommodation, all dive equipment, and a full day pass to Malamala Beach Club are all included.

What's included
Other activities at the resort
The dive course does not fill every hour of your stay, and there is plenty to do between sessions. The house reef is easily accessible for snorkelling directly from the beach. Other options available at the resort include island treks, village visits, cultural craft activities, kayaking, paddleboarding, volleyball, and sunset tube cruising. Check the activity board each morning for what is running that day.
Important notes
- A compulsory meal plan applies at Mantaray Island Resort and is not included in the package price. It can be paid at the time of booking or settled directly with the resort on arrival.
- All divers must have medical clearance if they have previously suffered from asthma or epilepsy.
- Travel insurance that covers scuba diving is required. A copy will be requested at check-in.

The dives
The course begins with classroom sessions covering the theory component before moving into the water for the practical side. The shallow water skills session takes place in the ocean directly off the resort rather than in a pool, so you are in the real thing from the beginning.
The four open water dives are spread across a range of sites around the Mantaray Island Resort house reef, giving you exposure to different marine environments and dive conditions as you build your skills and confidence.
The house reef is widely regarded as one of the best in the Yasawa Islands, with strong coral coverage and a diverse range of marine life.
Mantaray Island Resort
Set on Nanuya Balavu Island in the Manta Ray Region of the Yasawa Islands, Mantaray Island Resort sits alongside white sand beaches, a marine reserve, and some of the most vibrant coral reefs in Fiji.
The resort has a strong connection with the local village and a laid-back atmosphere that suits both those here to dive and those who simply want to unwind.
Dining is taken in the main restaurant perched above the treetops, with views across the surrounding islands. Breakfast is a continental buffet, lunches are a la carte, and dinners are three-course a la carte with specialty buffet evenings. Each afternoon, the wood-fired pizza oven opens up on the beachfront deck.

Malamala Beach Club (Bonus)
Every Yasawa Wanderer guest receives a complimentary full day pass to Malamala Beach Club, a private island beach club located in the Mamanuca Islands. The pass covers vessel transfers from Port Denarau and coach transfers from hotels in Denarau, Wailoaloa, and Nadi. The beach club day is available on any day before or after your island package (not during). Just let the reservations team know your preferred date after booking.
