12 Day Island-Hopping Package

The Fiji Explorer is a 12 day, 11 night island package that takes you through four distinct regions of Fiji's island chain, from the Mamanuca Islands all the way north to the renowned Blue Lagoon.

Across the fortnight, you move between up to five different resorts, spending enough time in each region to properly settle in and make the most of what it has to offer.

Departures are daily aboard the Yasawa Flyer from Port Denarau, and the package runs in either direction to suit your schedule. Accommodation can be booked as a shared dorm for those who enjoy meeting fellow travellers, or as a private bure for a quieter stay. Coach and vessel transfers, 11 nights of accommodation, a curated set of pre-paid activities, and a full day pass to Malamala Beach Club are all covered.

Day-by-day itinerary

The Fiji Explorer runs in either direction and can begin on any day of the week. The sequence below reflects the standard outbound direction. Weather and sea conditions may occasionally require adjustments to the schedule.

Days 1 & 2: Mamanuca Region (South Sea Island)
Board the Yasawa Flyer at Port Denarau at 8.45am, 9.00am, 10.00am, 12.15pm, or 3.30pm for the short journey out to South Sea Island. It is a compact, activity-filled island with a lot going on, and your two days here are a great introduction to island life. Non-motorised watersports are complimentary throughout the day, and drinks (local beer, house wine, and soft drinks) are included from 9:45am to 4:00pm. It is the kind of place that feels instantly relaxed, which makes it a good way to ease into the trip.

Days 3 & 4: Yasawa Gateway Region
Board the vessel early on day 3 for the journey north into the Yasawa Gateway Region. Afternoons here are best spent getting familiar with the resort and its surroundings. A summit hike at sunset is one of the better ways to spend the first evening, offering wide views across the island chain. Day 4 is for exploring at your own pace and making the most of your included resort activities.

Days 5, 6 & 7: Manta Ray Region
After a morning transfer, you arrive in the Manta Ray Region with several days to settle in properly. Three nights here means there is time to enjoy the resort without feeling rushed. The headline experience comes on day 6 or 7: between May and October, you can snorkel alongside manta rays at one of Fiji's most celebrated spots. Outside of this season, a guided reef snorkelling session is included in its place.

Days 8 & 9: Blue Lagoon Region
Late morning on day 8, board the vessel and continue north to the Blue Lagoon, the most remote stretch of the itinerary. Spend the afternoon taking in the scenery or exploring the resort. Day 9 is when you visit the Sawa-I-Lau Caves: a revered limestone cavern reached by a short underwater swim, set in a landscape that is genuinely unlike anything else on the trip. Note that the caves are closed on Sundays.

Days 10 & 11: Yasawa Gateway Region (second resort)
After a morning at the Blue Lagoon, board the southbound vessel in the early afternoon and head back to the Yasawa Gateway Region. Day 11 is another full day to explore, before a mid-afternoon transfer moves you onwards.

Day 12: Return to Port Denarau
A final morning to take in the last of the islands before the Yasawa Flyer heads south, arriving back at Port Denarau at 6:00pm.
